While there are many articles about how to prepare for the holidays- what foods to make, what gifts to buy, what to wear, there isn’t much talk about what happens after all of the presents have been unwrapped, the parties have become distant memories documented on Instagram, and you’ve finally recovered from the holiday hangovers. You’d expect to be riding a post holiday high from all of the festivities and fun, but instead you find yourself in a funk, longing for warmer days and putting big stars on the calendar to mark your next day off.
You are not alone. This is a natural response, within an emotional cycle, following life events that take you out of your normal routine. You might experience similar feelings after vacations or big life events such as weddings.
If you find yourself in this funk, don’t fret, there are many strategies you can use to help you move forward. Use this time as an opportunity to reflect, identify and acknowledge these feelings, and work on your mindset.
Try out some of these strategies and let us know how it goes!
- Spice things up and try something new!
- Cut the sugar! Foods high in sugar rapidly raise your levels of insulin and then promptly lower them leaving you with a crash-and-burn effect.
- Stick with a routine. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and plan out your meals to set yourself up for success!
- Give Cryotherapy a try!
- Cryotherapy can reduce cortisol levels in the body thereby providing the benefit of decreasing anxiety, depression and sleeplessness. The treatment helps increase endorphin levels in the nervous system and brain that produce feelings of well-being and pain relief.
