February is American Heart Month

We’re all love this month! February is a time for letting the ones you love know how you feel – but rather than just letting them know how you feel, what about making sure they are living their healthiest life possible to ensure they’re around for many decades to come?

Heart health is important and recent studies have shown that exposure to prolonged cold improves your Cardiovascular health! Whole Body Cryotherapy helps to boost freshly oxygenated throughout the body, which causes the heart to pump harder, thusly increasing your cardiovascular health! Additionally, Whole Body Cryotherapy burns up to 800 calories within 3 minutes, helping to reduce fat and increase weight loss – which can also improve your cardiovascular health too!

In addition to Whole Body Cryotherapy, some simple things you can do to help your cardiovascular health are:

  • Reducing your daily intake of sodium/salt
  • Exercising more frequently and incorporating more cardio intense workouts
  • Cooking more meals at home
  • Going for a short walk after eating
  • Eat at least 5 servings of fruit and vegetables a day
  • Limit consumption of alcohol
  • Quitting smoking

Take a look at some of the statistics below regarding heart health:

American Heart Month Statistics At a Glance

  • The overall rate of death attributable to CVD (Cardiovascular Disease) is 220.8 per 100,000 people.
  • On average, someone dies of CVD every 40 seconds. That is about 2,200 deaths of CVD each day.

Got the Post-Holiday Blues?

While there are many articles about how to prepare for the holidays- what foods to make, what gifts to buy, what to wear, there isn’t much talk about what happens after all of the presents have been unwrapped, the parties have become distant memories documented on Instagram, and you’ve finally recovered from the holiday hangovers.  You’d expect to be riding a post holiday high from all of the festivities and fun, but instead you find yourself in a funk, longing for warmer days and putting big stars on the calendar to mark your next day off.

You are not alone. This is a natural response, within an emotional cycle, following life events that take you out of your normal routine. You might experience similar feelings after vacations or big life events such as weddings.

If you find yourself in this funk, don’t fret, there are many strategies you can use to help you move forward. Use this time as an opportunity to reflect, identify and acknowledge these feelings, and work on your mindset.

Try out some of these strategies and let us know how it goes!

  • Spice things up and try something new!
  • Cut the sugar! Foods high in sugar rapidly raise your levels of insulin and then promptly lower them leaving you with a crash-and-burn effect.
  • Stick with a routine. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and plan out your meals to set yourself up for success!
  • Give Cryotherapy a try!
    • Cryotherapy can reduce cortisol levels in the body thereby providing the benefit of decreasing anxiety, depression and sleeplessness. The treatment helps increase endorphin levels in the nervous system and brain that produce feelings of well-being and pain relief.

“It’s WINTER. Do I really need to continue my Cryotherapy treatments when it’s this cold out?”

Contrary to popular belief, it’s actually more important to stay active during the winter months than any other time of year. At the first signs of cold, many people are known to get the “snuggle up” mentality. We eat more. We do less.

Yes it’s true, in the winter months we are more prone to injuries outside from slips and falls, but during this time we are also more prone to flus and other illnesses, heart attacks, depression, weight gain, muscle cramps, and those nasty body aches from shoveling all that snow and chipping away at all that ice on our car windshields;

But there is a way to beat the winter blues. WHOLE BODY CRYOTHERAPY.

During the holiday season – let’s face it – you booze more. You’re lazier. You eat as many holiday treats as your heart desires with no regard for toll it takes on your body. Naturally, you put on weight. You’re less active because of the temperatures outside. You can’t bike your favorite trails or run your favorite roads for fear of black ice. I hear that. I understand. But with less time outdoors, that equals less time in the sun. SEASONAL MOOD DISORDER. Ever heard of it? With less sun, less activity, high sugar foods – we get GRUMPY.

Whole Body Cryotherapy can help provide relief to the numerous problems we face during the next several winter months ahead – all in a short 3 minute time frame.

Regular Whole Body Cryotherapy sessions in the winter can:

  • Increase your metabolic rate, which simply put, means you burn more calories.
  • Can provide relief from sprains, fractures, and breaks from those nasty slips and falls.
  • Boosts your overall mood! Hello Happy!
  • Boosts your immune system, preventing nasty illnesses like the flu or common cold.
  • Boost energy (I’m looking at you snow plow drivers – long nights, low sleep)
  • Reduce back pain (from shoveling all that snow off your driveway)
  • Help detox your body from all that eggnog you’ve been chugging.

Winter might not be your favorite month, but Whole Body Cryotherapy just might be able to help change your views on it this season!

Magical Cryo Facials!

As you may have seen, this month we added additional services to our repertoire with the delivery of our Cryo T Elephant, aka Cryotherapy using a magical wand! The best thing about our new machine, is that we can offer localized cryotherapy for nagging injuries on specific areas AND provide Cryo Facials. Though I’m thrilled that our new machine can offer many options, let’s talk cryo facials, because I’m OBSESSED!

If you have been in the office the past 2 months, you have probably heard Meredith and I raving about Cryo Facials. While we know the many incredible benefits Cryotherapy has to offer, we did not anticipate just how glorious our skin would feel after only ONE session! So ladies and gents (because everyone deserves fabulous skin), listen up and get ready to book an appointment with us for a Cryo facial!

Using the same principles of Whole Body Cryotherapy, we cool your skin with a vaporized form of liquid nitrogen. As your skin cools, the blood vessels in your face constrict and dilate which flushes toxins and impurities out and boosts the supply of oxygen in your skin. This technology can reduce acne, minimize wrinkles, and increase collagen production. I mean what more could you want after hearing minimize wrinkle?! Well it gets even better. Additional benefits can include increased firmness, decreased pigmentation and uneven skin tone, reduced inflammation, and revitalized fatigued skin. What I loved the most after just one, 15 minute session, was how much brighter and radiant my skin appeared. I felt like I was walking around with the “pretty filter” from Snapchat on my face.

Cryo Facials are a cost effective and much less invasive option for cosmetic treatments. Plus it is pain free (minus the occasional brain freeze) and relaxing! So treat yourself to a Cryo Facial, we will provide the cozy heated blanket, soothing music, and magical wand.
