3 Sessions and the New Client Special

You booked your appointment, you’re ready to experience the healing capabilities of Whole Body Cryotherapy. So what happens to you in those first 3 sessions of Cryotherapy? Glad you asked.

Session One: The Rookie – or what I like to call – “The Shock and Awe”
In your first session, everything is new. You walk in not knowing much except for what you’ve seen on Social Media (which is usually your favorite athlete or celebrity indulging in it) or from what you’ve heard from friends, doctors, or podcasts (See Tony Robbins).

I sit you down, take your blood pressure, and get you accustomed to everything we will be doing throughout the session. Before you know it – IT’S TIME TO CHILL. People hear me say “I will now have you step inside the chamber and begin the recovery process where it will get down to around -220 degrees” and they begin to panic a little. EVERYTHING IS FINE. You’re so focused on the newness and the sensation of it all that the session is completed before you know it. (Roughly 2 to 3 minutes depending on the individual)

After the first session: Endorphins will be running high. Freshly oxygenated blood begins circulating throughout your body. You may feel more tired than normal that first evening after your session (that was my own personal experience as well). Some pain and inflammation may have dissipated.

Session Two: Now You Know What To Expect
When you return for your second session, you’re no longer in shock. You know what to expect and you go in determined to make it the full 3 minutes this time.

After the second session: Energy levels are boosted. Inflamed muscles and joints are feeling better and better due to the reduction of cytokines in the body.

Session Three: Handling It Like A Pro
By the third session, you’re accustomed to the therapy process. You should still be feeling relief from your previous sessions. Sleep patterns should be more normalized and mood and overall body condition should be feeling slightly better.

After the third session: By the third session, you should have noticed changes in your mood, pain levels, and the overall state of your body. Sleep patterns should be more regular, with deeper levels of rest. Areas of specific injury should be feeling less inflamed with more mobility. Endorphin levels should be higher, equating to a better overall mood throughout the day. Even by the third session, you will be feeling a majority of the benefits, but not all of them. In order to reach the maximum level of benefits, you will need to continue utilizing Cryotherapy.

With that being said, everybody is different. Every person is different. Our goals and injuries are all different. I have seen clients who have felt major relief right after the first session, and some who didn’t see relief until the third. The key is to keep at it. To allow yourself to trust the process. When we have serious injuries and ailments, all we want is a quick fix, but that’s not always what’s best for our bodies. Your body has it’s own natural rhythm, and it’s own way of healing.

Psoriasis and Whole Body Cryotherapy

What is Psoriasis? It’s easy to think of psoriasis as just a “skin condition,” but psoriasis actually starts underneath the skin. It is a chronic (long-lasting) disease of the immune system that can range from mild to severe. When your body has plaque psoriasis, your immune system is overactive, triggering skin inflammation and causing skin cells to be produced faster than normal. New skin cells are pushed to the skin’s surface in 3 to 4 days instead of the usual 28 to 30. Your body can’t shed the new skin cells at that fast of a rate. What does this mean??
So while new skin cells are being produced, the old, dead skin cells pile up on top of each other. As more and more new skin cells are produced rapidly, the old skin cells are pushed to the surface, forming the thick, red, itchy, flaky patches known as plaques.
The good news is that there are available treatment options and strategies that can help you live well with psoriasis.

Psoriasis responds well to cold stimuli, and with consistent daily sessions for the first two weeks, the itchiness begins to subside, and the scaling from the skin becomes less and less due to the reduction of inflammation.

With some Psoriasis sufferers being put on medications that decrease their appetite, another benefit of WBC is regaining their love of food and hunger. Additionally it can help free them from anxiety due to their skin condition and medications they have been prescribed.

Cryotherapy and Consistency

You know the saying ”I wish I had a dollar every time I heard someone say...(insert word or phrase here)...I’d be a millionaire.”

As a full-time Cryotherapy technician, I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard the statement above. I also can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve had to explain why a person felt Cryotherapy didn’t work for them after just ONE session.

As with anything we do in life, there is never a quick fix or a shortcut to your desired destination, as much as we’d like there to be. It requires hard work, dedication, and consistency. Many people hear about Cryotherapy and it’s plethora of benefits - and begin to think of it as some sort of magic pill with a “one time only use” label.

Well, I’m here to tell you - if that’s how you view Cryotherapy, we need to re-adjust your thinking.

Picture yourself, and the first time you stepped foot into the gym. You had a goal in mind. You were determined. You envisioned yourself as THE BEST YOU. You gave yourself a pep talk. You worked hard. You put in the time.

Now let me ask you - at the end of that FIRST workout - did you have the 6 pack abs and killer muscle definition you dreamed of? NO.

Why not? Because good things take time.

With every new client that comes to see me and tries out our therapies, I make sure to tell them this story. It’s important to hear and it’s important to know. As a general rule of guidance, I tell my clients to try 3 sessions of Cryotherapy, before deciding on whether or not this therapy works well for them. Cryotherapy is never a “one and done” fix.

The key to feeling these amazing benefits? CONSISTENCY. By consistency, I mean utilizing those first 3 sessions within 14 days of each other. Why? Because when you use those 3 sessions in a shorter time frame, you begin to flush the toxins from your body, and reduce the joint pain and inflammation throughout your body at a more consistent rate, thus making you feel better, sooner.

So, don’t give up after your first session of Cryotherapy! You don’t want to miss out on this amazing recovery tool by quitting before you even get started!
